Roll Down, Justice!

Lent is a time of reminding ourselves who we are called to be in this world. Our Lenten worship this year is inspired by Amos, a prophet whose message is that God calls us to let “justice roll down like waters.” Worship without justice is not acceptable, rather our songs must move us to action on behalf of the oppressed. Through the powerful music of Mark Miller and the remembrance of our rituals of baptism (the origins of Lent), this season will offer us reflection and renewed inspiration to let our voices be tuned to the heart of the Gospel—proclaiming God’s love for all people.

Our worship will pull us out of “what we’ve always done” with a rich blend of beautiful music, poetry, and visual arts centered around the waters of justice and righteousness. You will want to be a part of each week’s worship as we explore the following themes:

March 1 – Lent 1 “Child of God: Naming Each One
March 8 – Lent 2 “How Long: Renouncing Evil”
March 15 – Lent 3 “I Dream of a Church: Christ’s Representatives”
March 22 – Lent 4 “I Choose Love: Communities of Forgiveness”
March 29 – Lent 5 “God Has Work for Us to Do: Faithful Disciples”
April 5 – Palm Sunday “The Day is Coming: We Are One”

Sunday morning worship at 10:00 am.
