Outreach in our building...

The Co-op Nursery School at Heights Christian Church provides creative learning experiences for pre-school children in well-equipped, cheerful rooms. Parents aid professional staff in guiding early socialization and readiness activites throughout the school year. Find out more at www.shakerpreschool.com.

The Shaker Heights Youth Center counsels, supports and successfully teachers Shaker Schools' students in an alternative educational setting. Serving over 180 children and youth in grades K-12, they offer prevention services for suspended and expelled students, leadership and mentoring programs, in-school support to students who are experiencing academic or social problems, and a summer enrichment program for K-4.

The Elegant Flea Thrift Shop, open Thursdays, 10 a.m. - noon, and Saturdays, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m., is a resale shop accessed from the Winslow Road entrance.

Alcoholics Anonymous meets Tuesday evenings at 8 p.m.

...In the community...

Three times a year, Heights Christian Church partners with the Interfaith Hospitality network and other Greater Cleveland houses of worship to provide a week's housing for families who are searching for housing and work. Church volunteers set up furniture and walls in our Fellowship Hall, provide an evening meal for the families, entertain them after dinner, and stay overnight. More volunteers break down the furniture when the week ends, so it can be delivered to another house of worship.

Our Giving Garden, tended by volunteers, provides vegetables to participants in our Great Food for All ministry, area food banks, neighbors, and the occasional animal.

Campbell Court, a vital ministry of the church since 1985, provides affordable housing for seniors. It is an expression of cooperation with the community, the City of Shaker Heights, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Since the spring of 2007 we have given a Peace Award to a deserving junior or senior at Shaker Heights High School. This scholarship award of $500 is in keeping with HCC's designation as a "Shalom Congregation" dedicated to teaching, working and witnessing to "peace with justice."
